Suneet Varma Fall Couture 2014 featuring Azva
Its an universally acknowledged fact, that if all Indians were Gollum, then our collective precious would be gold ! … My precioussss !!!! … heheh …. In fact that amigo long dead Christopher Columbus too discovered the great Amreeka while hunting for gold ! …. We think those Spaniards must be having some long lost Indian genes somewhere in their gold loving souls 🙂 … But no race in the world can beat the hunger for gold that Indians have …. and it seems like we always will, modern austerity be damned …. If only we could control our soul hunger for gold, the Indian rupee would be much healthier than the current dwarf it is to the Amreekan Dollar !!
The golden sun will never set on the Indian Bridal Jewellery market, and for modern brides straddling worlds global and traditional both … a celebrated couture designer like Suneet Varma collaborating with Azva, a bridal gold jewellery brand by the World Gold Council … is the most extraordinary and happy news in recent times … We shot these fabulous pics during the Suneet Varma Couture Presentation 2014 – All That Jazz, in association with Azva and Swarovski Crystals … in September …. Suneet’s collection was inspired by Josephine Baker who was a French dancer, singer, and actress aka the “Bronze Venus”, the “original Flapper Girl” and “Creole Goddess” of the Jazz Age …. This showstopper look on super model Sonalika Sahay in 22kt gold …. consists of a highly elegant, detachable modern statement necklace to die for …. which would look equally at home with a royal Indian bridal ensemble or a classic grecian Vionnet or even a simple solid coloured chiffon six yard !! …. Designed by Suneet and made by Azva’s master craftsmen from Gujrat …. the lace like filigree, the textured sheet work, the resonance of the sacred seven vows of marriage in the very modern Art Deco theme with seven flower motifs, seven petals, seven drops in the necklace design and the seven strands of pearls hugging the bajubandhs comes together in an exquisite jugalbandi of tradition and modernity !
Commenting on the association with Azva, Suneet Varma said, “I am very excited to partner with Azva to create jewellery pieces in gold that have a very contemporary and fashionable appeal. The jewellery pieces that Azva and I have curated together will bring alive exquisite designs and craftsmanship in gold jewellery that will appeal to the fashion conscious women of today. The fact that these designs will be seen complementing the theme of the Art Deco bring alive the uniqueness of gold. I’ve always loved gold and translating my love for gold into jewellery designs that Azva can beautifully create has been a fabulous experience.”
Commenting on Azva’s collaboration with Suneet Varma, Mr. Vipin Sharma, Director, Jewellery, World Gold Council said, “We are thrilled to work with Suneet Varma for his beautifully inspired show and to create showstopper jewellery for Azva in 22Kt gold. Suneet’s love for gold can be seen in his ethereal designs that make trends in bridal fashion. The jewellery pieces designed by Suneet and uniquely handcrafted by Azva are ‘high couture’ fashion using traditional forms of workmanship from Gujarat yet providing a style that is relevant to the modern Indian bride and with an extremely aspirational appeal.”
