Gap India Summer Style
By now, everyone knows that Gap India has opened its doors to Delhi in the swanky Select City Walk Mall in South Delhi … The reigning queen of Bollywood, Kangana Ranaut inaugurated the first ever Gap India store on May 30th, which sprawls over a 10,000 square feet of space, done up exactly like fellow stores around the world !! … The iconic blue Gap logo has long been a siren call of the must buy shopping list of globe trotting Indians ourselves included …. And every trip to USA or UK means stocking up on Gap boxers, hoodies, shirts and denims …. Quality clothing in simple classic styles has been Gap’s USP for long …. and we Delhiites couldn’t be more delighted to have our own Gap India store in our home city !! …. Gap India currently stocks Gap for men and women, GapKids, and babyGap Summer 2015 collections, and it has come into the market via a partnership with Arvind Lifestyle Brands Ltd. … A few weeks back, Gap India held a Press Meet to announce its launch, and we got some lovely pressies from their PR team, including the iconic round necked white T with Gap written across it … As a courtesy, we put up a pic on our Instagram handle, and got more than 300 likes within minutes of it !!! …. Such is the cult status of Gap in India 🙂 … Nothing says summer like a white Tshirt paired with denims and kicks, and we are sure we will have a ball styling a lot of summer outfits from Gap India in the future, for now, check out a few Insta style pics we took of our pressie !!
This black n white series of pics is inspired by Herb Ritts, an American fashion photographer who concentrated on black-and-white photography and portraits, often in the style of classical Greek sculpture …. Of course we are nowhere near the iconic legendary photographs of Herb Ritts …. but a good friend, Designer Rashmi Dogra, commented that Dimpy’s profile pic on FB reminded her of Herb Ritts pictures … and therefore we did this post in black n white 🙂 … What do you think ?
Herb Ritts is also from California, like Gap … and captured the American style through numerous portraits of legendary people …. I still remember Madonna’s True Blue Album from 1986, which i still have in cassette form ….. the cover of which was shot by Ritts 🙂 … Nineties kids will remember this album the moment they see the pic … Also who could ever forget the black n white video of Chris Isaak’s song “Wicked Game” featuring Helena Christensen, again shot by Ritts … and THE most iconic supermodel black n white portrait of Supermodels Stephanie Seymour, Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, Tatjana Patitz, and Naomi Campbell in Hollywood, 1989 !!!
Hope you liked our post, until next time,
Love, Aanchal Sukhija and Dimpy Kapur, Namaste.
